Foreigner's Registration Office Foreigner's Registration Office, in Faridabad is situated in Security Branch, O/o Commissioner of Police, Sector-21C, Faridabad for the registration of foreigners who are residing in the jurisdiction of Faridabad district. Foreigner Registration in India

Registration for all foreigners is compulsory, for those foreigners who are arriving in India on a visa for a period exceeding 180 days, except the exempted categories. Foreigners for whom registration is required

The foreigners who are holding following categories/criteria of visas are required to be registered:

• All foreigners visiting India on a student visa, research visa, employment visa and missionary visa that hold a visa for a period of more than 180 days. This includes persons of Indian origin and those who come to study Yoga, Vedic culture, or the Indian system of dance and music. This registration is required irrespective of whether or not they intend to stay in India for more than 180 days or fewer than 180 days (i.e., the deciding factor is the period for which the visa has been granted and not the actual stay).

• Such persons are required to register with the Foreigner's Registration Office, Faridabad within 14 days of their first arrival in India if they hold a visa for a period of more than 180 days. Such types of visas will be stamped "Registration required within 14 days of arrival in India

• Foreigners coming to India on a medical visa (M) or medical attendant (MX) are required to register within 14 days of arrival, irrespective of the duration of the stay.

• Pakistani Nationals: Pakistan nationals are required to register at the check post of entry into India. They must hand over one copy of the visa application form given to them by the Indian Mission Abroad while granting visa to the immigration authorities at the check post of entry, who will hand over the Residential Permit to the Pak national. The Pak national must carry the Residential Permit with him/her to each place of stay for the purpose of police reporting. This Residential Permit must be surrendered to the Immigration Authorities at the check post of exit at the time of departure. Further, except those who are granted visa with the endorsement "Exempted from Police Reporting" (EPR Visa). Pak nationals entering India on a police reporting visa (PRV) must also report their arrival and intended departure at each place of stay as permitted in the visa within 24 hours at the nearest police station

• Afghan Nationals: All Afghan nationals are required to register with the concerned Foreigners Registration Office within 14 days of arrival in India, irrespective of the validity of their visa.

• Bangladesh Nationals: Citizens of Bangladesh are exempted from registration for up to 180 days. If their stay exceeds 180 days, they must register themselves. It may be noted that failure to register within the stipulated time, as mentioned above, is a contravention of the prescribed rules and would invite appropriate punitive action.

Exemptions

Following are the categories of foreigners who are exempted from registration:

• Foreigners visiting India on categories other than student visa, research visa, employment visa or missionary visa, including business/entry (X) visa, are not required to register if the duration of their stay does not exceed 180 days on a single visit. If, due to any valid reason, the continuous stay exceeds 180 days, the foreigner should approach the concerned FRO/FRRO for registration well before the expiry of 180 days. They will, in turn, register them and grant permission for their exit from India. Such types of visas will be stamped "Registration Not Required, If Continuous Stay on a Single Visit Does Not Exceed 180 Days." • PIO Card holders, as long as their continuous stay during each visit doesn't exceed 180 days: If the continuous stay exceeds 180 days, the foreigner should approach the concerned FRO/FRRO for registration within 30 days of the expiry of 180 days, who will, in turn, register them. • OCI Card holders: Irrespective of duration of their stay in India. • As per paragraph 2 of Registration of Foreigners (Exemption) Order, 1957: Children below the age of 16 years are exempt from the requirement of registration. Required documents at the time of registration

• On Line Application form. • Photocopy of the passport • Photocopy of the initial visa with arrival stamp in India. • Coloured photographs of the applicant  Four Copies. • Proof or details of residence in India. • Copy of the marriage certificate for those seeking registration as a spouse of an Indian National. • Bona fide certificate from the university/college/institution for those seeking registration on a student visa. • Bona fide Medical certificate from the recognized hospital for those seeking registration on a Medical and Med Attendant visa. • Accreditation certificate from the Press Information Bureau for those seeking registration on a journalist visa. • Approval of the Department of Company Affairs in cases of board-level appointments in public limited companies. • Two copies of the approval from the Government of India in cases of a joint venture or collaboration. • Undertaking from the concerned Indian company on the following in cases of employment/business visa. Foreigners coming from or through yellow fever countries must come with a valid vaccination certificate

Extension of visa for foreigners registered in India

The foreigners of all nations, who are registered in the office of FRO Faridabad can apply for extension of visa. Following documents in single are required for extension of visa except those whose names are given below:- • On line application form duly filled up by the applicant • Recent Coloured Photographs of the applicant ¼Four Copies½ • Copy of passport • Copy of visa • Copy of Residential Certificate/Residential Permit. • Copy of employment contract. • Copy of the marriage certificate for those seeking extension as a spouse of an Indian National. • Bona fide certificate from the university/college/institution for those seeking extension on a student visa. Accreditation certificate from the Press Information Bureau for those seeking extension on a journalist visa. • Copy of permission from the RBI in cases of business/joint venture etc. • Terms and conditions of appointments and copies of contracts or agreements for those seeking extension on employment visa. • Request letter from the concerned Indian company in case of employment/business visa. • Undertaking from the concerned Indian company in case of employment/business visa. • Bona fide Medical certificate from the recognized hospital for those seeking extension on a 'Medical' and 'Med Attendant’ visa. • Approval for extension of 'Business' visa and Journalist Visa is given by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Foreign Division), Govt. of India.
